What I Do…

…I light fires under writers’ asses. I want to make your writing even better than it is. I never lose sight of the fact that your inspiration for the work is the most important thing. If you want to light a fire under your own ass, I also offer a self-directed editing course at the Shop link above.

Street Cred

I’ve worked with over 200 writers.

I’ve edited over thirty published books.

The books I’ve worked on have been up for nearly two dozen awards and counting, including the Governor General’s Awards for poetry and non-fiction.

I hold a BA (Honours First Class) in English from the University of Alberta.

I’m a member of the Editors’ Association of Canada, the Writers’ Union of Canada, the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild, the Writers’ Guild of Alberta, ACES (the Society for Editing) and a past regional representative for the League of Canadian Poets.

I’ve edited for many Canadian Presses, including the University of Alberta Press, Wolsak&Wynn, Turnstone Press, Arsenal Pulp Press, Inanna Publications, Radiant Press, and Thistledown Press.

“the book went out into the world in the best possible shape”

“Kimmy Beach was the final reader and editor of my book Tiny Lights for Travellers before publication, and her eye for the smallest errors to the broadest thematic confusion was invaluable. Thanks to her careful and multiple considerations of the text, the book went out into the world in the best possible shape..”

– Naomi K. Lewis, shortlisted for the Governor General’s Award for Non-Fiction
